Daytona SP3 “599 + 1”: the most expensive new Ferrari in the world

Daytona SP3 “599 + 1”: the most expensive new Ferrari in the world

A unique model, the 600th example of the Daytona SP3 reached the record auction of 26 million dollars at Pebble Beach, under the hammer of RM Sotheby's.

History will record that the Daytona SP3, from the Icona series launched in 2018 with the Monza SP2, was produced in a limited edition of 600 units. In addition to the series of 599 numbered units sold and already delivered to their owners, Ferrari built an additional chassis that was auctioned by RM Sotheby's, on the sidelines of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. The proceeds from the sale were donated to the Ferrari Foundation, a public charity to fund future charitable initiatives. The Ferrari Foundation's most recent project was a collaboration with Save the Children for the reconstruction of the Aveson Charter School in Altadena, California, whose campus was tragically destroyed by fire earlier this year.

Bearing the hallmark of the Tailor Made customization program, the 600th Daytona SP3 in the sale is a unique example. It is distinguished by its two-tone paint scheme, with exposed carbon fiber on the left side and yellow (Giallo Modena) on the right side. The interior ambiance is also unique with fabric upholstery made, for the first time, with recycled tires. Likewise, the dashboard and steering column feature a checkered flag motif made from a special carbon fiber used by Scuderia Ferrari in Formula 1. The steering wheel is trimmed in suede and enhanced with standard color stitching and aluminum-painted paddle shifters. This unique Daytona SP3 bears the designation “599+1” and includes a personalized silver plaque attesting to its exclusive status. Like all models in the series, the SP3 “599 + 1” is powered by the 840 hp 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12.
